SANTA CLARA, Calif., July 28, 2022 – IP Infusion, a leading provider of open network software and solutions for wireline and mobile network operators, today announced that Telecom Infra Project (TIP) recognized its OcNOS®-based Disaggregated Cell Site Gateway (DCSG) solution with the TIP Validated Solution Gold Badge, the first recognition of its kind assigned this year.
TIP is an international community of companies and organizations driving development and deployment of open, disaggregated, and standards-based technology solutions to advance global connectivity. IP Infusion’s OcNOS software was recognized for satisfying the stringent requirements set by the TIP Open Optical Packet Transport Project (OOPT) group for the DCSG.
IP Infusion’s OcNOS-based DCSG, an essential element of the 5G mobile network, was validated in an environment that tested its extensive interoperability with multiple network nodes in an end-to-end deployment topology. Methodology included test cases covering functional, performance, operational and resiliency aspects for a telecom network. Testing also investigated segment routing (SR), timing & synchronization, bidirectional forwarding detection (BFD), quality of service (QoS), link aggregation and open shortest path first (OSPF), all of which IP Infusion’s DCSG met or exceeded standards.
“IP Infusion’s OcNOS is a mature and reliable network operating system (NOS) contributing to enhancing global connectivity,” said Diego Marí Moretón, Manager of Connectivity Technologies and Ecosystems at Meta and TIP OOPT Technical Lead. “TIP is committed to accelerating the adoption of open and disaggregated networking technologies which adhere to rigorous standards and provide a framework of reliable support to drive 5G connectivity. This award recognizes the IP Infusion NOS product as a mature option for DCSG solutions which operators can feel confident in selecting as a tested and validated system.”
“We are deeply honored to receive the highest award available from TIP, validating the thoroughly tested reliability and efficiency of IP Infusion’s OcNOS-based solution,” said Atsushi Ogata, President and CEO of IP Infusion. “Our modular, open platform gives network operators the flexibility and full support to build systems from the ground up, while integrating the disaggregated approach at cell sites to accelerate 5G adoption across the globe.”
The Gold Badge is only awarded to commercially available solutions that have undergone TIP’s rigorous end-to-end multi-vendor ecosystem testing. The designation complements IP Infusion’s other recognitions within TIP’s Open Optical Packet Transport Project (OOPT), where it has demonstrated compliance with TIP specifications for Cassini (Packet-Optical transport) and Phoenix (Optical Transponder). The OOPT is creating the definition of open technologies, architectures and interfaces in Optical and IP Networking, with a focus on building an open source reference platform. The Taiwan-based Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), part of the TIP Community Lab, performed the testing.
The Gold Badge status aligns with findings from research firm GigaOm, which recently named the IP Infusion OcNOS solution the most complete network operating system (NOS) of the 20+ platforms evaluated in its 2022 Radar Report. OcNOS ranked ahead of incumbent providers, including Cisco, Juniper and Nokia, as a Leader and Outperformer in all three Network Service Provider (NSP), Cloud and Managed Service Provider and Enterprise and SMB Reports, meeting stringent performance and scalability demands for critical use cases, and facilitating integration into diverse network operator environments.
