Distributed disaggregated networking is a game changer and forms part of the network transformation journey from vendor-dependent transport network (including routers and optical) to open compute white box networks. It is an enabler and radical step in building open transport networks in the 5G era and helps to ease the CSPs’ fear of single-point-of-network failure and high opex cost. CSPs, especially those in the TIP (Telecom Infra Project) community, are aiming to drive and bring network openness, orchestration, agility and operational efficiencies from distributed disaggregated open compute networking by breaking the vendor lock-in and status quo in the underlying transport network.
