OcNOS Virtual Machine

Accelerating network disaggregation
with TIP: OOPT, DCSG, Cassini and more

Expanding OcNOS Portfolio in Supporting TIP programs

IP Infusion has contributed to several TIP programs by extending our OcNOS product to support Disaggregated Cell Site Gateway, Cassini and soon the Phoenix and OpenSoftHaul projects.

The Telecom Infra Project (TIP) is a global community of companies and organizations working together to accelerate the development and deployment of open, disaggregated, and standards-based technology solutions that deliver the high-quality connectivity that the world needs – now and in the decades to come.

Committed to accelerating disaggregation, IP Infusion has been an active member of the TIP community, contributing to innovations within the OOPT group on multiple projects like Disaggregated Cell Site Gateway (DCSG), Cassini (open packet/optical transponder), Phoenix (open white-box transponder), and others.

DCSG

  • Telecom Infra Project’s Disaggregated Cell Site Gateway (DCSG) was created to define what the future 5G IP aggregation networks would look like. The objective of this project has always been very clear: produce IP solutions that are more open, more efficient, disaggregated, and that can help operators to deploy networks in a fast, robust and economic manner. The DCSG project, which is under Open Optical and Packet Transport (OOPT) group, has recommended a cell site router deployment model which simplifies design and operation of carrier networks. As networks evolve to 5G, this collaboration will offer technology that is more open and that offers more choices, faster innovation, and cost efficiencies, supporting customer growth and increased demand for data. Cassini

  • A new open packet/optical transponder contributed by Edge-core, Cassini integrates 100GbE switching with Layer-1 optical transport functions as line-card modules, and covers data center interconnect, metro and access backhaul use cases. More Info
  • OcNOS on Edgecore Cassini packet transponder addresses the massive bandwidth requirements of DCI and backhaul networks while providing power and space efficiency. Moreover, its web-scale IT operations model provides easier integration and operations through programmable, open APIs. Optical/OTN

Phoenix

  • Phoenix is an open white-box L0/L1 transponder that operators can deploy on top/together with their existing line systems to increase the capacity of their optical networks. It is based on disaggregated components (HW and SW) with 400G line interfaces. More Info
  • IP Infusion has been shortlisted as software provider by TIP for Phoenix solution. More Info
  • OcNOS-OTN will also add support for 400G transponders based on the TIP Phoenix platform.
