SANTA CLARA, Calif., January 27, 2016 – IP Infusion, Inc., a leading provider of intelligent network software for telecom and data communications services, today announced that NEC Corporation, a global leader in the integration of IT and network technologies, has selected IP Infusion’s VirNOS™, a carrier/enterprise network operating system for Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) solutions. NEC will start to provide VirNOS technology as its vRouter service connecting multiple VLANs and its vRouter service connecting LANs among multiple tenants (tentative names) for its NEC Cloud IaaS, a cloud infrastructure service to their customers in the Japanese market in the spring of 2016.
NEC Cloud IaaS provides a cloud infrastructure service, offering resources of servers, storages and network solutions on a monthly or hourly basis. NEC Cloud IaaS enables enterprise customers to realize a router function required for multi-tenants network connections within the same site quickly and flexibly.
VirNOS is designed to meet the requirements for today’s networks by supporting many networking functionalities such as MPLS L3VPN, MPLS L2VPN, IPv4, IPv6, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, LDP, RSVP-TE, IPSec, QoS, and ACL. VirNOS supports carrier grade networking functions such as MPLS L3VPN, L2VPN, QoS, and ACL. With VirNOS, IP Infusion provides a complete NFV-based software package which carrier and enterprise customers can run, as-is, on top of the standard server platform.
“With network operators facing increased challenges to integrate and maintain a variety of proprietary hardware, growing energy costs, capital investment and space requirements, VirNOS provides centralized distributed networking support for increased agility and cost effectiveness,” said Kiyo Oishi, CEO and president of IP Infusion. “We look forward to continue to work with NEC as they deliver new customers in less time and with decreased capital and operating expenditures.”
