The latest release of IP Infusion’s OcNOS-SP 6.5 delivers a highly capable and deployment hardened Network Operating System for Service Providers. With over 10,000+ deployments, OcNOS has established itself as the preferred NOS for Whitebox platforms with Service Providers and Data Centers.
The OcNOS-SP 6.5 GA release delivers capabilities for network elements across the service provider network.
OcNOS-SP Use Cases
OcNOS delivers an integrated solution for the following Service Provider use cases across Access, Aggregation and Core Networks:
- Access Router (AR)
- Cell Site Router (CSR)
- Aggregation Router (AGGR)
- Provider Edge Router (PE)
- Provider Router (P)
- Peering Router (BGP Peering)
- Data Center Interconnect (DCI)
Our rich Layer 2/3/MPLS capabilities enables OcNOS-SP to be deployed as a simple Access Router for Cable and Ethernet Access. This enables customers with Mobile Backhaul and Access Networks to deliver services at a low TCO.
The Timing and Synchronization capabilities available in OcNOS-SP provide the most advanced Cell Site Router solution on Whitebox platforms available today. This has been certified by Telecom Infra Project (TIP) with the Gold Badge.
As an Aggregation Router, OcNOS-SP has been proven as the preferred option for aggregating traffic from Mobile Access, Fixed Wireless Access and even Passive Optical Networks. The same OcNOS-SP software provides efficient transport for Provider and Provider Edge Network deployments across the Aggregation and Metro Networks in addition to providing the option for the BGP Peering use case.
Key Software Features
Some of the key features introduced in the OcNOS 6.5 GA release include support for ITU-T Y1.731 support on sub-interfaces for Access Routers as well as for Provider Edge use cases.
Hierarchical VPLS (H-VPLS) provides a scalable spoke-pseudowire multipoint solution for VPLS networks.
Auto-Bandwidth with RSVP-TE guarantees optimized RSVP Tunnel resource allocation for traffic management.
Ethernet VPN Ethernet-Tree (EVPN E-Tree) enhances management of communication within broadcast domains, incorporating redundancy through multi-homing. It supports efficient traffic control, enhanced security by isolating Leaf hosts, provides scalability across network sizes, and improves overall network performance.
Adding to the MPLS capabilities is the RSVP Auto Bypass feature to enhance fast reroute protection. The functionality ensures creation of bypass tunnels for facility backup protection.
The introduction of LDP-over-RSVP-TE Tunneling provides enhanced network scalability and traffic engineering capabilities. This feature enables the tunneling of Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) Label Switched Paths (LSPs) within RSVP-TE tunnels, leveraging RSVP-TE’s traffic engineering functionalities
Further strengthening OcNOS-SP’s Streaming Telemetry capabilities is the introduction of gNMI Dial-out mode which enables routers to “dial-out” or initiate SYN towards collectors.
Multi-Topology Routing in IS-IS in compliance with RFC 5120 enables route computation of a separate Shortest Path First (SPF) tree within a single domain.
Load balancing using Flexible Hashing and Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) ensure efficient resource utilization in Provider Networks.
To provide alternate interfaces for Zero Touch Provisioning, OcNOS has enabled ZTP support on data ports in OcNOS-SP 6.5.
OcNOS-SP 6.5 also introduces OpenConfig support of 400G ZR/ZR+ modules for ease of managing the QSFP-DD optics for Metro and Longhaul use cases.
OcNOS-SP 6.5 is supported with IP Infusion’s Point-and-click Element Management System, IP Maestro.
Hardware Platforms
OcNOS-SP has been qualified on the latest Broadcom Qumran, Qumran-2 and Jericho2C+ platforms from UfiSpace and Edgecore.
