Title: Optical Networking Symposium: Open Optical Networking and Disaggregation
Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Optical analysts led a discussion among leading edge CSPs and network hardware and software suppliers to discuss the most significant trends driving optical networking in 2022 and beyond.
Open Optical Networking and Disaggregation
2021 was a milestone year for disaggregation in transport networks, with TIP reporting 38 trial and commercial optical and packet transport deployments globally as of year-end. Tier 1 network operators are leading many of these initiatives. Despite solid progress, it is still early days and there is still much work to be done to achieve wide commercialization of open transport networks globally. This session focused specifically on areas of open networking and disaggregation that will have the greatest impact on communications service providers (CSPs) over the next two years – including both open hardware and open software.
