Title: 5G Transport Symposium – Practical Scenarios for 5G Fronthaul
Duration: 1 hour, 30 minutes
Join us for a panel discussion on Practical Scenarios for 5G Fronthaul during Light Reading’s 5G Transport Symposium. This two-day digital symposium will cover the latest developments and trends in 5G transport networks, including IP backhaul and the future of the cell site gateway; the role of pluggable optics in building economical 5G transport networks; the impact of vRAN and O-RAN on RAN architecture; and practical implementations of fronthaul, including lessons learned to date.
Practical Scenarios for 5G Fronthaul – Panelist: Shaji Nathan, Chief Product Officer, IP Infusion
While centralized and cloud RAN architectures provide benefits in RAN performance and costs, they also introduce tough challenges for the transport network – particularly in the fronthaul segment connecting the distributed radio unit (RU) to the centralized processing performed at aggregation and hub sites. Steady progress has been made, but challenges remain. This session assesses the state-of-the industry in fronthaul, with a focus on real-world case studies, lessons learned and work to be done for further commercialization. This session will be moderated by Sterling Perrin, Sr Principal Analyst, Heavy Reading.
