Isocore Announces Successful Interoperability Testing of Major Novel Network Features

  • Isocore tests the resilient Point-To-Multipoint MPLS services, Comprehensive Ethernet OAM, VPLS Auto-discovery, redundant Pseudowires and Path Computation Element

Reston, Virginia, October 19, 2009 — This year, MPLS 2009 delegates will witness the interoperability of resilient multipoint MPLS transport, a comprehensive Ethernet OAM feature-set, dynamic discovery of VPLS provider edge nodes, and path computation element (PCE) - path computation client (PCC) communication for inter-domain applications and signaling LSPs through different vendor nodes along the single Inter-AS path.

The Fall 2009 LEC testing successfully targeted the interoperability of Virtual Private LAN Services (VPLS) using BGP-based auto-discovery methods, comprehensive Ethernet OAM (IEEE 802.3ah, IEEE 802.1ag and ITU-T Y.1731) for fault and performance monitoring across multiple implementations. The successful Ethernet OAM functionality was verified across maintenance domains including the customer layer 2 domains and across the provider-provisioned LDP signaled VPLS bridge domain. The testing further investigated Provider Backbone Bridging extensions to VPLS (PBB-VPLS) interworking as one of the viable options for scaling Carrier Ethernet networks. During the tests, Isocore also validated P2MP LSP interoperability using complex topologies and IPv6/IPv4 multicast traffic with fast reroute recovery.

MPLS2009 Public Interoperability Demonstration will take place following the MPLS2009 International Conference (www.mpls2009.com) at Isocore, and it will showcase the results of this recently concluded testing. Additional information is available at: www.isocore.com

Vendors participating in the Isocore testing included Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU), Brocade Communication Systems (NASDAQ GS:BRCD), Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO), Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT) IP Infusion (independently operated subsidiary of ACCESS Co., Ltd.), IXIA (NASDAQ: XXIA), Juniper Networks (NASDAQ: JNPR), NEC (NQB: NIPNY), and on-site participation and support by NTT.
